The Luperon 12 Hurricane Protocol

Not a policy. A practiced procedure.

Why This Matters

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. In the Caribbean, that is not background context. It is the operational season. For Guardian residency vessels, every element of our management system is designed around what happens when a named storm approaches.

The difference between a vessel that survives a hurricane and one that does not is rarely the storm itself. It is the preparation done weeks and months before the first advisory is issued.

The Protocol

01

Pre-Season Preparation (April through May)

Full mooring hardware inspection. Load testing of chain, shackles, and pennant lines. Replacement of any component approaching service limits. Additional storm lines staged on each mooring. Vessel condition baseline documented with photos and GPS coordinates logged for reference.

02

Watch Phase (Named Storm Forms, 5+ Days Out)

Owner notification by WhatsApp and email with storm track projection. Vessel condition check and documentation. Additional chafe protection installed on mooring lines. Crew briefing on vessel-specific securing requirements. Digital Guard monitoring frequency increased.

03

Warning Phase (3 Days Out)

Second set of mooring lines added to every Guardian vessel. All loose gear, canvas, and deck items secured or removed. Dinghy secured or hauled. Through-hulls verified closed. Bilge pumps tested and batteries confirmed at full charge. Owner receives written confirmation of all securing actions completed.

04

Active Phase (24 to 48 Hours)

Harbor crew on standby at the harbor station. Final securing checks completed before conditions deteriorate. Position monitoring via Digital Guard every 2 hours during the storm window. Continuous owner updates by WhatsApp as conditions and cell service allow. Post-passage initial assessment within 4 hours of conditions permitting safe harbor access.

05

Post-Storm Assessment (Within 24 Hours of All-Clear)

Full vessel inspection with photo documentation. Mooring hardware condition assessment. Damage report with photos sent to owner within 24 hours. Insurance documentation support if required. Mooring re-inspection and re-certification before next season cycle begins.

What Is Not Covered

We are not an insurance product. We do not guarantee zero damage in a major hurricane. No one should. What we guarantee is professional preparation, active monitoring, and immediate response. The best possible outcome given the conditions.

Luperon 12 operates under a managed mooring residency agreement, not a marine insurance contract. Vessel owners are responsible for maintaining their own hull and liability insurance. Our role is to provide redundant maintenance protocols, verified vigilance, and professional oversight so that your vessel faces any storm in the strongest possible condition.
